7X Design's latest project is a 1,900-horsepower Italian coach-built supercar

7X Design, the British company that unveiled the 288 GTO-inspired coachbuilt Ferrari, has unveiled a one-off Lamborghini-based model called Rayo, which was unveiled at the Hampton Court Concours d'Elegance in England last week

The car is based on the Guini.

Rayo is based on the Lamborghini Huracan and features custom-made carbon fiber bodywork and an upgraded engine: a 5.2-liter V10 engine with twin turbochargers supplied by Underground Racing, and a 5.2-liter V10 engine with a 6.5-liter V8 engine supplied by Lamborghini, output was increased from the stock 601 hp to 1,900 hp.

According to Envisage Group, another company responsible for manufacturing Rayo's carbon fiber bodywork and assembling the vehicle, the 7X is targeted to reach a top speed of 300 mph. To achieve this goal, Rayo has made significant aerodynamic improvements over the donor Huracan, in this case the LP 610-4.

According to Envisage, the drag coefficient was reduced from the stock 0.39 to 0.279. The new body panels were designed by scanning the base vehicle's structure to ensure a proper fit. Rayo also features headlight lashes, a nod to the Lamborghini Miura.

7X has not discussed making a customer copy of Rayo; 7X has previously announced that it will sell a copy of its coach-built supercar, the Ferrari 488 GTB-based GTO Vision, for $2 million (plus donor car costs).

Notably, the Rayo is based on an older version of the Huracan; since the LP610-4 was launched, Lamborghini has launched more aggressive versions, most recently the track-focused STO. The STO, short for Super Trofeo Omologato, was conceived as a public road version of the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo race car. In contrast to the Rayo's focus on top speed, the factory-built STO was designed for faster lap times, and aerodynamic changes were primarily aimed at increasing downforce.
