2023 BMW 7 Series, Kia EV9 and the next-generation Jeep Trackhawk: the week strikes back
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV was spotted testing in prototype form on GM's Proving Ground test track. Clad in body panels that appear to be those of a production vehicle, the body has curves and a blunt front end reminiscent of the Camaro design. The prototype did not have production lighting elements or body trim, though, so the overall appearance cannot be confirmed. The Blazer EV will be available in SS model.
Kia management told MA that the EV9 will be available in late 2023; when the EV9 arrives, it will be an electric crossover SUV with three rows of seats and an exterior design similar to the concept car that debuted at the November 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show The exterior design will resemble the concept car that debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2021. Pricing will start at approximately $50,000.
Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. told MA that the TRX pickup truck will live on in its current form even after the Dodge Hellcat dies in 2023. The CEO would not define "current form" or confirm that the TRX's supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 will remain under the hood of the truck. Koval also said that a Turbo 4 is not in the Ram 1500's product plan, even though a range-extended gas model will be introduced in 2024 along with an electric pickup.
Jeep brand head Jim Morrison told MA that future performance variants of the Grand Cherokee will not have a V-8 engine under the hood. The electrification will compensate for the smaller-displacement engine with fewer cylinders. Morrison also mentioned the possibility of another name, Electric Hawk, although it has not been determined if the name Truck Hawk will be revived.
