The Hyundai Veloster N is discontinued due to the introduction of the Elantra N and Kona N.

Pour one out for the Hyundai Veloster N.

On Wednesday, Hyundai confirmed to the Motor Authority that production of the Veloster N will end in July and will not return for the 2023 model year. The curtain has closed on one of our favorite hot hatches.

We all sensed that this day would come. When Hyundai expanded the N lineup with the more practical Elantra N sedan and Kona N small crossover, the fate of the Veloster N seemed set. Then it was written.

For the 2022 model year, Hyundai discontinued the non-N Veloster lineup in the U.S., making the N model the last Veloster.

The Veloster N debuted in the 2019 model year for an attractive $27,785. It made enough noise to be named a finalist in the Motor Authority Best Car To Buy 2020. It went up against cars like the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-door that cost well over $100,000.

To broaden the Veloster N's appeal to a wider audience, Hyundai added the 2021 eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as an option over the six-speed manual. While we prefer the #GiveAShift, the available dual-clutch is a great transmission choice.

However, in a market that is crazy about crossovers and SUVs, the more practical option wins out. Hyundai has been clear about the demise of the Veloster N, attributing its demise to these new models.
