Lucid Air Grand Touring reduced price with less standard equipment.

Lucid has made it easier to get behind the wheel of its 819-horsepower, 516-mile Air Grand Touring sedan.

The EV startup announced this week a new starting price of $138,000, up from $154,000.

To achieve the lower price, Lucid removed some standard features and made them available. Such flexibility is already seen in the lower grades Air Pure and Air Touring, which start at $87,400 and $107,400, respectively.

Standard on the Air Grand Touring were the DreamDrive Pro Driver Assist package ($10,000), the Surreal Sound Pro audio system ($4,000), and 21-inch AeroBlade wheels ($2,000). Adding all of these features returns the price to the previous starting price of $154,000.

Buyers who choose the standard DreamDrive driver-assist package and/or the standard Surreal Sound audio system will get a free 90-day trial of the Pro version of each, Lucid said.

By making these previously standard features optional and thus lowering the starting price, Lucid has essentially retreated from the bulk of the Air Grand Touring's price increase announced in May. Now priced at $138,000, the original $139,000 price included the DreamDrive Pro package as standard equipment.
