2024 Chevrolet Blazer EVs Begin Shipping, $60,215 RS AWD Model Arrives First

General Motors on Monday announced the start of deliveries of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV and provided an update on the launch sequence.

The Blazer EV will be available in LT, RS, and SS grades, as well as a Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) variant. Production will begin with the RS AWD model with a pre-destination price of $60,215 and a GM-estimated range of 279 miles. Dealers will receive their first units in August. Production will take place in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, where the gasoline Blazer is produced.

The RS RWD and 2LT AWD models (starting at $61,790 and $56,715, respectively) will then go into production this fall; GM estimates the 2LT AWD model will have the same 279-mile range as the RS AWD and the RS RWD will have a range of 320 miles. 2024. The front-wheel drive version of the 2LT, which will be available in 2024, is expected to have a range of 293 miles per charge.

Lower-end 2LT AWD models feature a 17.7-inch touchscreen, 11.0-inch digital meter cluster, synthetic leather upholstery, wireless smartphone charging, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and heated exterior mirrors, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view camera system; RS AWD adds 21-inch wheels, cooled front seats, rain-sensing wipers, heated rear seats, a head-up display, and rear camera mirror; RS RWD adds a Bose audio system will be added.

GM also confirmed that the Blazer EV SS, originally slated to arrive in late 2023, will begin production in spring 2024. This sportier Blazer EV will have a sport suspension, 557 hp and 667 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of under 4.0 seconds in what Chevrolet calls wide open-watt mode. When the Blazer EV was unveiled last summer, Chevrolet said the SS model would start at $65,996.

The Blazer EV PPV is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2024. The remaining configurations will be announced closer to the 2024 launch schedule. These include the base 1LT and front-wheel drive versions of the 2LT and RS.

Last summer, Chevrolet announced base pricing for the 1LT starting at $44,995 and base pricing for the 2LT and RS at $47,595 and $51,995 respectively. These prices are considerably lower than the prices announced on Monday for the AWD and RWD versions, which will likely apply to the front-wheel drive version, and the figures could increase by the time the vehicle hits the market. Expect a price increase. Chevrolet actually charges $1,575 more for RWD and AWD, so it is unlikely that making it front-wheel drive will account for the full $9,120 price reduction between last year's 2LT estimate and Monday's estimate. The Blazer EV could be the first car ever to be available in front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive configurations.
