Auction of Queen Elizabeth's 2004 Range Rover hats

Once owned by Queen Elizabeth 2, a 2004 Land Rover Range Rover is being auctioned in the UK through an iconic auctioneer.

There have been several luxury one-off vehicles in the British Royal fleet, including open-top Range Rover parade cars, but this seems to be an example of the vast majority of third-generation Range Rovers available.

Royal's special equipment, according to the auction list, includes additional lights on the grilles, fences for dogs, road mats, side steps and mudguards. The Range Rover is also equipped with a dual rear window switch and a rear grip handle to facilitate entry and exit - a feature commonly found in cars of the late British monarchs completes the list.

According to the documents, the Range Rover was first registered in 2004 and was supplied by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), but usually in the case of Royal vehicles, more specific ownership details were not disclosed. But the auctioneer found a video showing Queen Elizabeth II sitting behind the wheel of this range rover, which can be identified by the license plate BN04EPU. This is the main proof that he claimed kinship with the late Queen.

The right-hand drive Range Rover currently shows 109,675 miles on the odometer, but earlier this year it was repaired and is now registered in the UK. December 7, 2024. This generation range Rover was sold here when it was new, but it's hard to export to the US because it's a non-US version. And this is too new to qualify for a 25-year exemption for cars on the foreign market.

Auctioneers expect the Royal Range Rover to be sold for between 50,000 and 60,000 British pounds, or between 61,285 and 7,73,542 at the current exchange rate. This generation of range Rovers alone won't garner such high stakes, but don't underestimate the royal connection. The 1985 Ford Escort RS Turbo S1, formerly owned by Princess Diana, was sold last year for a staggering $8846,000.
