Infiniti expands its model range with two electric cars and a qx65 crossover

In recent years, Infiniti's sales have fallen due to a shortage of new products, but the automaker offered to try what will happen on Tuesday, planning an attack on new models in the coming years.

Premium brand Nissan held an event in Tokyo and announced plans to release four new models, three of which represent a new product line.

4 included a redesigned QX80, a coupe-like crossover called the qx65, as well as an electric hatchback and an electric crossover.

The redesigned QX8 was the first to appear, a preview of which took place on May 80 in the qx Monographic concept. Infiniti has announced that the new QX80 will arrive at the dealership next year.

The release dates of other models were not mentioned, but the QX65 may be the next arrival after the QX80. It will be a mid-size crossover in the coupe style, and its base can be shared with the mid-size SUV qx60. This is similar to how Infiniti sells the qx50 compact crossover along with a coupe-like version called the qx55.

The first of the electric vehicles will be an electric hatchback. According to information provided by Vision Qe concept on Tuesday and detailed at a dealer conference last summer, sales are expected to begin in 2026. According to information from the same dealer meeting, the electric crossover, which will be presented as a concept called Vision QXe, will begin to be sold in 2027. Both electric vehicles drew ridicule when Infiniti confirmed they would be produced in 2022 at Nissan's Canton, Mississippi plant. The corresponding Nissan models will also be produced at the factory.

The lack of new products at Infiniti has hurt automakers at a time when luxury car sales are on the rise. Infiniti's U.S. sales fell in 2022 to 46,619 units, the lowest since the brand was just 3 years old in 1992. The automaker intends to reach sales of 100,000 vehicles after this decade, with the introduction of new models combined with a more modern design for retail stores
