TW name restored for new performance car brand

Tom Walkinshaw Racing is a British motorsport and engineering company that has achieved success in Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The company, often called TWR, which was also involved in the development of road cars, closed in 2002 due to increased debt associated with the acquisition of the Arrows F1 team 6 years ago.

Fast forward to today, and Fergus Walkinshaw, son of Tom Walkinshaw Racing founder Tom Walkinshaw, is working on a new performance car brand, which will be called TWR. Teaser shots of her first project have been published, and more details will come soon, the company announced this week.

The company is based in Newbury, UK, and already has a significant engineering team. Their goal will be to offer bespoke cars that focus on combining modern materials with an analog driving experience, perhaps suggesting that some models may still offer manual transmissions.

Like the original Tom Walkinshaw Racing, TWR will also work with well-known car companies on performance-related projects. Some of the predecessor company's projects included an early line of HSV-tuned Holden Commodores, Aston Martin DB7 and Jaguar XJS, XJR-15 and XJ220.
