2023 Ford Bronco DR, Misty Chrome paint surface for sale.

Throwback paint for the 2023 Ford Bronco DR is available at Bring a Trailer.

The 2021 Bronco DR (short for Desert Racer) was a turnkey race truck intended to be the spiritual successor to the Bronco that competed in the Baja 1000 during the 1960s and 1970s. Only 50 are believed to have been built, all priced in the mid-$200,000 range for the 2023 model year. [The truck being offered for sale is further distinguished by its body panels finished in Misty Chrome, a color-shifting paint provided by the factory only for the 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra.

The rest of the truck appears to be factory-spec, powered by a Coyote 5.0-liter V-8 with an estimated 400 horsepower. This V-8 engine drives all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission and independent electronically locking front and rear differentials, bringing the race-spec vehicle weight to 6,200 pounds.

Ford also gave the Bronco DR unique bodywork covering a 73.7-inch, 73.3-inch wider front and rear track, with a roll cage and serious chassis upgrades.Multimatic position-selectable DSSV dampers, 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires and 17-inch beadlock wheels are highlights.

When unveiling the Bronco DR, Ford claimed that the race truck boasts a 55.1% increase in front suspension travel to 15.8 inches and a 58.6% increase in rear suspension travel to 17.4 inches compared to the stock four-door Bronco Badlands. Ford also set the approach, departure, and breakover angles at 47, 37, and 33 degrees, respectively.

The interior is only basic. In the center of the dashboard is the Motec C187 display and CAN data acquisition system. Behind the driver and front passenger seats is a 65-gallon fuel tank and spare tire.

Since this is a race vehicle not intended for public road use, the Bronco DR is offered with a Bill of Sale only and no title or registration. For those who want a public road-legal Bronco with a desert racer character, there is the Bronco Raptor.
