2025 Genesis GV70 to be further refined
The Genesis GV70 is one of the best options in the fiercely competitive luxury compact crossover segment, and it's about to get even better.
The automaker unveiled an update to the GV70 on Thursday at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show. It will go on sale next month in Genesis' home country of South Korea, and a U.S. launch won't be far behind, most likely in the 2025 model year.
Genesis has confirmed a series of improvements to both the interior and exterior, although it is withholding full details until closer to market launch.
Exterior changes are harder to spot, but consist of a new grille pattern, new internals for the lights, and a revised front mask with skid plates. At the rear, the turn signals have been moved from the lower fascia to the taillights, while the GV70 Sport package features a new front mask with enlarged intakes, a new rear diffuser, and unique 21-inch wheels in a dark metallic finish.
The interior changes are more substantial. The premium design with its distinctive elliptical theme is still present, but the current separate instrument cluster and infotainment screen have been replaced by a single floating display that spans 27 inches. Added to this are new ambient lighting details and new controls for climate settings.
No changes have been announced for the powertrain; the GV70 is currently available in the U.S. with a choice of 2.5-liter turbo four and 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 gasoline engines. They are rated at 300 hp and 365 hp, respectively. electric cars were introduced starting with the 2023 model year, with a 77.4 kwh battery and a 429 hp dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain.
Genesis also unveiled the Electrified G80 sedan at the Beijing Motor Show and the high-performance G80 from the recently established Magma sub-brand. As with the updated GV70, Genesis is withholding details on the G80 model until closer to market launch.
