Ford CEO excludes Electric Mustang, but says new body style is possible

Ford CEO Jim Farley recently opened up about the potential expansion of the gas-powered mustang range, while excluding the electric version of the iconic sports car.

In an interview with Autocar during last month's 2024Goodwood Members' Meeting in the UK where Farley jumped behind the wheel of an early Alan Mann Racing Mustang, Ford's CEO promised there would never be an electric Mustang.

"私ができる一つのことpromise...is We will never make an all-electric mustang," he said. "I see other users of pure power like Formula E, and even companies like Rimac, and I don't think it's right for the Mustang."

He said earlier this year that he plans to keep the V-8 alive in the mustang as long as possible, and Ford has options available for the offset of emissions provided by EVs like the Mustang Mach-E

so that vehicles will be able to keep the V-8 alive in the Mustang." Carrying the name, Farley apparently does not believe it is part of the Mustang Muscle Car lineup, despite the messaging that appeared during the vehicle's launch.

But some form of electrification for the mustang is coming. Ford said last month that it was looking to add hybrid options to its entire lineup, and in an interview with Autocar, farley said the electric powertrain would be a performance

Farley also noted that Ford is planning a new variation of the mustang beyond the hybrid. It is not the first time that we have seen such a large number of cases. He cited multiple versions of Porsche's 911 as potential templates to follow, and said the Wild Mustang GTD is a kind of rolling lab for potential upgrades. GTD will start about start325,000, but Farley sees how Ford can improve the performance of future variations, including reducing weight while maintaining a relatively affordable price.

While Farley said in an interview with Autocar that additional body styles like four-door, not SUV, are possible. He stressed that the variants of the future mustang need to match the original "performance and attitude".

Dodge's redesigned charger will be available in both Coupe and sedan body styles, and there are rumors that the discontinued Chevrolet Camaro may also include a sedan body style when it makes its return. The new charger will be available with a gas engine, but there will be no V-8, but the jury heard that Chevrolet planned for the next Camaro powertrain
