Lamborghini Urus recalled because the hood can be removed at high speed

Lamborghini has announced the recall of the Urus SUV because the hood can be partially or completely removed at high speeds.

The recall affects certain Urus Suvs in the 2023 and 2024 model years, including both the standard Urus S and the more hardcore Urus Performante. About 2,133 vehicles in the United States have been affected

According to a recall notice published by NHTSA on May 16th, having accidentally made rivet studs for a hood latch striker could open a small gap between the hood and the front fascia at high speed.

The air flowing through these gaps adds stress to the latch system, which over time can cause the latch system to fail, causing the hood to flip and block the windshield or be completely removed from the vehicle.

Lamborghini became aware of this issue after an investigation resulting from two separate warranty claims for hood misalignment. Automakers are not aware of crashes or injuries related to the problem.

With this remedy, the dealer must inspect the hood and, if necessary, install a new striker support plate for free.

The owner's notice will be mailed to June28, but those looking for more information can contact Lamborghini (1-866-681-6276) or NHTSA (1-888-327-4236) (reference recall campaign number24V348000).
