Kia EV3 is a small EV with large range, fast charging speed

Thursday Kia removed the cover from the impressive but small EV3 sub-compact crossover.

It is a production version of the concept of the same name shown last fall, and the line of show cars moved faithfully to the production model, which is scheduled to start selling in South Korea in May, is scheduled to launch in Europe in the second half of the year, Kia plans to expand sales to more regions, but the United States has not yet been confirmed as one of them.

At only 169 inches long, the EV3 is about 4 inches longer than Kia Soul, making it the smallest EV of the car manufacturer. It is similar in size to the Volvo EX30, and like the recently revealed Mini Aceman, and also those cars, Kia has a lot to do, despite its small dimensions

EV3, the Hyundai Motor group's flexible E-GMP platform found in the EV6 and EV9, and some Hyundai and Genesis products. It's a great way to get on with your life. The standard grade is equipped with a battery of 58.3kwh, while the long-range grade is equipped with a battery of 81.4kwh. In both cases the power comes from a single electric motor that is rated at 201 hp and is capable of delivering 0-62mph acceleration in about 7.5 seconds. The top speed is 105mph.

With a larger battery, Kia claims a range of 372 miles in the WLTP test cycle used abroad. It still has to be more than 300 miles in a more rigorous EPA cycle. This range is aided by a relatively low drag coefficient of only 0.263 (for upright crossovers). When it comes to charging, using a DC fast charger will take about 10-80 minutes to charge 31%, the automaker said.

The exterior design employs the EV9's rugged styling cues, and some designers have gone along with the ubiquitous modern Dash consisting of a gauge cluster and a single display panel that houses individual digital screens for infotainment systems.

The EV3's screens measure 12.3 inches each, and Kia said it plans to offer downloadable themes to customize them, as well as streamable content that will come in handy while waiting at the charging station. It also includes an artificial intelligence-backed voice assistant and a 12.0-inch head-up display.

Kia also recently launched an electric compact crossover in China called the EV5, and in 2027 it plans to launch as many as 14 EVs into its global lineup. Also in the pipeline is a compact hatchback called the EV4 and an electric pickup truck to be sold in the United States
