Pagani Begins Offering Artistry to Rivals Through Modena Design
Before launching Pagani in 1992, founder Horacio Pagani had already founded Modena Design, which supplied the industry with components made from high-end composite materials, including carbon fiber, which was then in its infancy with respect to production cars.
Modena Design also supplied Pagani in its early years, but as the new supercar company grew, its focus shifted away from the component company. Pagani is now giving Modena Design a reboot.
Pagani said in September that Modena Design now specializes in precision CNC (computer numerical control) machining for the aerospace and biomedical industries as well as the automotive industry.
The company can produce complex parts made from aluminum, titanium, and other specialty metals. [The company uses specialized machines such as high-speed CNC milling machines for shaping raw materials and high-precision vertical CNC milling machines. Many of these machines operate autonomously, allowing the company to manufacture parts around the clock. Some machines apply unique finishes such as anodized aluminum and polished finishes.
Located at Pagani's home in San Cesario sul Panaro, Italy, the company continues to supply parts for Pagani supercars, including over 700 parts for the latest Utopia supercar. These include steering wheels, transmission linkages, and pedals, all machined from solid aluminum. Now, some of that artistry may find its way into rival supercars.
