Review: Porsche Tycoon GTS in 2025 is wealthy, but it steals

Head up: Porsche breathes into its go-far, charging-faster 2025 Taikan and into much of what we find so fascinating about its Maiden electric sedan

No matter how you rate driving Taycans at Porsche's Finnish ice rink and racing alongside Taycan Turbo GT This is one of the only EVs that faithfully transforms the normal characteristics of the brand into the electric age. 

Now there's a refreshed model that underlines, bold, and italics its broad statement: the updated 2025Taycan GTS.

If you think that the load-rattling acceleration and fly paper grip of the base Taikan do not improve, it is okay to make a mistake. It didn't have to be faster, faster, more sedate, more luxuriously equipped — or more expensive — but the GTS is all that.

It's a better life through even more technology, an indicator of stealth wealth that will blow you around and realize only once back in the fog that overwhelmed Northern Georgia when I drove one in the previous week.

2025Porsche Taycan GTS

Porsche sells the GTS in both the body style of the 4-door sedan and the Gran Turismo wagon, but in both cases the power comes from the battery and motor. Here is a standard 2-motor all-wheel drive setup with a more powerful rear motor, a readjusted inverter, and better cooling, which can improve charging rates up to 320kw.

The total battery pack is rated at 105kwh, and the output of the Taycan GTS will almost rise to the output of the Taycan Turbo before 2025. When the software unlocks the Net 690 hp and the car flings you and itself at 3.1 mph in 60 seconds, or 0.4 seconds faster than the previous Taycan GTS, it's 596 hp until you engage in startup control and overboost mode. Porsche also claims a 0.7 second dip in quarter mile time.

With its enhanced drivetrain perks—the GTS is almost equal to the Diamond medallion status— Taycan GTS gets the rorty programmed sound of the turbo version. It pumps that synth exhaust jam at a very noticeable crossover point, like an electrical pulse hitting the nerves - and I don't need audible to quarterback my driving from the speaker system, but some drivers appreciate it.

While I thread the Taikan delicately around the fog, wet switchback and local traffic, I am much more sporty Chrono Drive mode where it is drier and clearer, I use drive mode for a short but strong stab of force to excise the road in the hands of surgeons. "I'm not going to do that," he said. It's ridiculously easy to warp past the 18-wheeler on the back road, even where it really shouldn't be. The push-to-pass lasts for ten glorious seconds before its gauge icon darkens and your neurons return to those close to normal. With that heroic torque sweep, it consumes dawdling shitboxes as I consume Swedish ginger cookies and espresso. Without mercy.

Porsche has not yet confirmed the EPA rating range, but the Taycan GTS has a frugal drive mode so frugal in energy, so the digital display sports Turismo wagon on the passenger side will be rated slightly lower, for more aero-drag. Both are charged from 18% to 10-80 minutes.

The place where GTS makes a stand is when it makes a corner. It's Pell-Mel to a knotted 15-degree hairpin that ensures Atlanta stays at bay from the one-stop-light towns dotted across North Georgia, which can take time to go tens of miles by conventional means. 

Taikan is not conventional. On the base Taikan's standard air suspension and 20-inch wheels, the gts has 21-inch wheels (track tread can also be speced) on summer tires, as well as rear wheel steering and active anti-roll bars, which counteract body lean and are well suited with sweeping bends and kinky curls on pavements as well. Tap on the available dynamic pack that lends more stability. 

With both this "active ride control" and carbon ceramic brakes, the GTS played the 11-month rain like an idiot. Maybe it didn't require an expensive brake upgrade — we found the Taikan's cast iron unit just swelled, either way - but in SA standard drive mode, it fends off the moderately bumpy pavement of assertive weakening, but the best comebacks for those switchbacks are the ones that are the best. Save. The Taycan GTS flips into Sport + mode, while throwing the last bit of forgiveness it has for an unmanaged road, and a slight twinkle works its way through the steering column. It loses patience and does not worry about itself across the asphalt - it just refuses to engage in stupidity and tracks horribly flat.

Porsche has enhanced EV ride and handling with the Taycan, and the GTS has amplified that victory with stouter's but more scalpel-like steering and a ride that's resilient enough to contemplate for everyday use. Among the electric cars, only Lucid and Hyundai organize the intersection of the EV's weight and fun handling - as long as you tell the Taycan's active lane controls to knock it off and stop gnawing the car towards the centerline even if you don't cross the double yellow line.

2025Porsche Taycan GTS

Taycan's 4-seat interior shrink wrap wraps around larger people, while its 18-way adaptive sports seats fit as snugly as you like by fiddling with seat sides and screen controls. The rear seats remain more of a proposition for those in D1 sports or on the big, tall end of the size spectrum, but you can heat the rear seats for those who fit. well, she's small.

Still, Taikan's intimacy makes most drivers attractive. Wrapped in lace-tex synthetic suede, the GTS cabin has a bit of a concept car spirit, stripped out as it is, and is touchscreen driven. Synthetic leather is the standard, but of course Porsche will leather what you want, paint, stitch or wrap it in carbon fiber. You can see your dollars fly through a small band-aid that passes for the rear window.

Taycan GTS does not appeal to skinflints and is not a base price for base1,995, including base149,895 for destination. It includes summer tires, 18-way powered front seats, air suspension, sports chrono, heated steering wheel, parking sensor and active lane control, ambient lighting, rear side airbags, and 20-inch wheels with wireless smartphone charging. Not included.

As tested, the Taikan GTS I drove had an option of440,310. Efficiency Freaks still set their sights on the base Taycan and its range maximum settings, while speed freaks can desire after even faster, faster and more expensive Turbo GT. The GTS makes it all balanced, even if the brain-shaking acceleration and grip put almost nothing else in a reasonable perspective.

Porsche paid the top off for the hotel room and the Taikan battery, so we were able to deliver this test drive review.
