Hennessey has already implemented a twin-turbocharged Chevrolet Corvette C8.

Deliveries of the highly anticipated 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray have just begun, but Hennessey Performance Engineering has already released a twin-turbocharged upgrade for this mid-engine wonder.

Hennessey CEO and founder John Hennessey flew to Detroit on March 13 to personally receive the orange car. He then traveled immediately to Hennessey's headquarters in Sealy, Texas, where work began.

The first step was dynamometer testing, with the factory specimen producing 466 rear-wheel horsepower and 451 lb-ft of torque. This is impressive considering the official flywheel figures for the 6.2-liter V8 LT2 Corvette are 495 hp and 470 lb-ft with the Z51 package.

Work then began on installing two turbos, an intercooler, and the necessary piping in the tight space of the engine bay - Hennessey is keeping the exact details secret, but photos published by the company show a pair of supercharger valves feeding the stock throttle bodies. . Hennessey also claims that the rear trunk is fully intact, so the upgrade won't compromise its functionality.

Hennessey doesn't mention how much the twin-turbo produces on the Dinogram, but new power and torque figures will surely be announced soon. Recall that Hennessey has already announced a target power output of 1,200 hp. Naturally, the company will offer softer settings as well. One of them is an upgraded supercharger that will provide around 700 hp. The company is also developing an exhaust system upgrade that will improve the sound and add some power.

In addition, Chevrolet will eventually introduce more powerful versions of the C8 Corvette in showrooms. One of these will likely be the new Z06 model, a prototype of which may have already been spotted.
