2021 Ford Mustang Eliminates Performance Pack 2 and Brit Option

More bad news for Mustang fans.

After Ford announced in early October that the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R will disappear after 2020, we now have to report that more beloved options will disappear.

First spotted by Muscle Cars & Trucks, the 2021 Ford Mustang Order Guide posted on Blue Oval Forums, both the Mustang Brit and Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 2 options, noted that they will be discontinued at the end of the 2020 model year.

When contacted, a Ford spokesperson confirmed the news.

The discontinuation of the Mustang Bullitt was largely expected, as it boasts the same 480 horsepower as the Mustang Mach 1, which will be added in 2021, and is priced nearly the same ($52,915 for the 2021 Mach 1 compared to $48,905 for the 2020 Bullitt). The Mach 1 is slightly more expensive than the Bullitt, but is equipped with a number of track-ready upgrades, some of which are carefully selected from the Shelby GT350 and GT500 models.

The elimination of the Mustang GT's Performance Pack Level 2 option is an even bigger blow to performance enthusiasts; this option, which was offered starting in 2018, is for buyers who want to drive a track-focused Mustang with serious performance It offered the best value. It is offered only with a six-speed manual transmission and also requires the 301A Equipment Group package, which will bring the drive-away price to $45,575 in 2020.

Just a few of the added upgrades include massive 19x10.5-inch wheels in the front and 19x11-inch in the rear, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, magnetic dampers, upgraded Brembo brakes, new front splitter, K-braces and more. As a result, the Mustang has shockingly little body roll, yet comfort is not compromised thanks to the magnetic dampers.

What worries me is that Ford says the Mach 1 will be a limited edition model. Hopefully it won't be too limited.
