This restyled C3 Chevrolet Corvette is actually a C6.

Restomods are all about blending classic styling with modern performance hardware, and this C3-generation 1976 Chevrolet Corvette takes that concept a bit further than most. That's because under its fiberglass skin is actually the hardware of an early 2000s C6 Corvette.

First spotted by the Corvette Forum, this trans-generational 'Vette is by Hungary's Hardcore Engine Builders (HEB), and features the complete chassis and running gear of a C6 Corvette and the body of a C3.

Under the hood is an LS3 6.2-liter V-8 engine that drives the rear wheels via a 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The gearbox is mounted in the rear as part of the transaxle, just like the normal C6.

It also features antilock brakes, traction control, C6 steering components, C6 Z06 brakes, and a custom exhaust system with stainless steel long-tube headers.

In addition to modifying the C3 body to fit the C6 chassis, HEB made several upgrades to give it a more modern look: the HID lights are hidden behind the grille, the Corvette has larger wheels and tires than at the time, and custom lettering on the wheels It is also worth noting that the C3 body matches the C6 chassis quite well.

This two-generation Corvette mashup is more impressive than the mere engine swaps done by many other restomods, and it did not take the higher-priced cars out of circulation. The basic C6 Corvette is still more of a used car than a collector's car, and the 1976 C3 will never rival the most valuable classic Corvettes.
