Jay Leno tests a Jeep 6x6 built by Apocalypse Florida.

There seems to be no shortage of companies developing 6x6 behemoths based on conventional SUVs and pickup trucks, but one of the most successful is Apocalypse Manufacturing of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This is the same company that created the Ram 1500 TRX 6x6 known as the Warroad, and which also produces a 6x6 version of the Jeep Gladiator. The Gladiator 6x6 comes in three variants, with the version featured on the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage program called Hellfire offering the most storage space. Its bed has a steel sloped roof cover with a design inspired by the Tesla cyber truck.

Unsurprisingly, it outperforms even a garage as large as the one Leno owns. This is partly due to the fact that the vehicle is equipped with 40-inch wheels. Other options include an infrared night vision camera, a leather upholstered interior, and a jet ski package.

Naturally, engine upgrades are also offered. A twin-turbocharged diesel with 460 lb-ft of torque is standard. For those looking for more power, a tuned 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine is available with about 500 horsepower. Maximum power comes from the Hellcat's supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which develops 707 hp.

Apocalypse's business is thriving not only in the United States, but according to owner Joseph Gatas, his 6x6 vehicles have received 79 orders, many from customers in other parts of the world, especially the Middle East. Prices start at $150,000 with the diesel engine, with the LS3 variant costing $175,000. Adding a Hellcat engine will cost at least $195,000. Production times are as short as three weeks.
