A California company called Competition Carbon is turning a C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray into a V12 Cadillac supercar for SEMA in 2022.

The ambitious project, revealed in a series of Instagram posts (via Carscoops), is called the C120R in honor of Cadillac's 120th anniversary next year. According to one of the posts, it is partly inspired by the Cadillac Cien, a mid-engine supercar concept model built to celebrate Cadillac's 100th anniversary, which debuted at the 2002 Detroit auto show.

In the Competition Carbon rendering, the Corvette's exterior has been completely reworked. New fenders, side skirts, and side air intakes give it a more square look, but the vertical headlights and taillights seem to be the only elements that identify the C120R as a Cadillac.

Also transformed are the four tailpipes in the center of the rear fascia, the adjustable rear wing, and the large rear diffuser. Part of the rendering also shows a roof scoop that feeds air to the mid-mounted engine, but it is unclear if this will be cut in the final version.

Competition Carbon also plans to drop the Corvette's 6.2-liter LT2 V-8 engine in favor of a V-12. However, the company has not given any specifications or even any indication as to where this engine will come from; recall that the 2002 Cadillac Sien Concept had a custom-built 7.5-liter V-12 engine.

Assuming the next SEMA show is traditionally held in early November, we will have to wait almost a year to see the C120R take shape. The company plans to use an SLA resin 3D printer to create new body panels and has also teased a roadster version.
