2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV priced at $90,440

Following a mid-cycle update for 2022, the GMC Sierra 1500 will enter 2023 with few changes.

This includes the new AT4X AEV edition, which was first unveiled in July. The truck was developed with off-road specialist American Expedition Vehicles to further enhance the AT4X's capabilities on paved roads.

Among its upgrades are added underbody protection, a revised front grille and fascia, black body accents, and custom 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.

It is based on the ATX4 with four-wheel drive and a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8, with prices starting at $83,545 for 2023; an upgrade to the AT4X AEV edition comes at a $6,895 premium, bringing the total price of the truck to $90,440 dollars.

Starting price for the 2023 1500 Sierra is $38,995; all figures listed include destination.

The AT4X AEV Edition is not the only new option for 2023; the Pro grade also offers a Graphite Edition. This is a package of popular options, adding front and rear body-color fascias, 20-inch wheels, and a few styling touches.

Other changes for 2023 include new colors Sterling Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Deep Bronze Metallic. The Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate also offers newly designed 22-inch wheels.

The powertrain is carried over largely unchanged, but the 3.0-liter turbo diesel has increased power and torque by 10% and 7.6%, respectively. It delivers a maximum output of 305 hp and maximum torque of 495 lb-ft. This engine is an option when maximum towing capacity is needed; GMC claims it is suitable for towing up to 13,000 pounds.

The base engine is a turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-4 with 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque; a V-8 is also available in two variants. The aforementioned 6.2-liter V-8 engine delivers 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, while the 5.3-liter V-8 engine also delivers 355 hp and 383 lb-ft.

Most powertrains are mated to a 10-speed automatic, but the 2.7-liter inline-4 is mated to an 8-speed automatic.
