Aston Martin was spotted testing an updated version of the DB11 Grand Tourer.

The DB11 was originally introduced for the 2017 model year, and the changes made to the updated version may be significant enough to justify the new name.

The updated vehicle carries over most of the styling of the current version, but in contrast to the current and costly design where the front hood and fenders are combined as one giant rolled piece of aluminum, the much larger grille and a new front end with separate hood and front fenders. This prototype also has a new headlight design.

Perhaps more important in this update are the changes inside the car. A completely redesigned dashboard with a more advanced infotainment system is expected. The current design relies on outdated technology borrowed from Mercedes.

The updated model will also use borrowed technology, especially with regard to driver assistance features. The front of the prototype is equipped with new sensors.

It is not clear what is planned for the powertrain, but current options should carry over, perhaps with more power. These options include a twin-turbo Mercedes 4.0-liter V-8 with 527 hp and a twin-turbo Aston 5.2-liter V-12 with 630 hp.

The new car could debut later this year as part of Aston Martin's 110th anniversary celebration. Aston Martin has announced that the first of its next-generation sports cars will be unveiled this year. The company also plans a limited edition model to mark the end of the DBS line and a new DBS 770 Ultimate.

Aston Martin's Vantage sports car is also due for an update, followed by a plug-in hybrid hypercar, the Valhalla, in 2024 and possibly a mid-engine supercar, the Vanquish, in 2025. After that, Aston Martin plans to unveil its first EV, which will be a sports car. An electric SUV is also planned.
