Lamborghini Executives: EVs Aim for 300 Mile Range, Comfortable Rear Seats

Production of Lamborghini's first electric car is still years away, but a company executive has shared new details about the EV.

On Tuesday, ahead of the 2023 New York Auto Show, Lamborghini's chief marketing and sales officer Federico Foschini told Motor Authority that Lamborghini's next EV will have a range of at least 300 miles and a "comfortable" back seat

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann admitted earlier this week that Lamborghini's first electric car will be a 2+2 grand tourer, but said no more.

Foschini said that the minimum EV range goal today appears to be just over 300 miles. 'It's a fully electric vehicle, so that's what we need,' he said. There is no alternative range." Foschini noted that customers need the reassurance that they will have enough range for long distance travel.

The CMO also noted that range figures depend on the mode in which the vehicle is driven.

Lack of access to charging infrastructure and fast charging speeds are concerns for Lamborghini management, who believe it is better to wait for other companies to address these issues. That is one of the reasons why production of this car is five years away.

Foschini also said that the electric grand tourer will be a practical vehicle. He said that customers who buy supercars like the Revuelt plug-in hybrid will want a more user-friendly car. That is where the electric GT will come in.

The rear seats will not be as wide as the front seats, Foschini said, but they will be comfortable enough to accommodate an adult male (perhaps two) as well as a child. That remains to be seen, as most 2+2s have fairly impractical rear seats. The Porsche 911 and Toyota GR86 are examples.

According to Foschini, the front seating position will be similar to other Lamborghinis and will be familiar to buyers who have purchased Lamborghini's less practical cars. The "driving feel" will also be similar to other Lamborghinis, but Foschini did not elaborate on what Lamborghini will do to replicate the feel offered by Lamborghini's lineup of cars with V-8, V-10, and V-12 engines.
