Watch Cadillac Racing's Le Mans documentary "No Perfect Formula"

Cadillac, which will be racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans again this year, is looking back at last year's breakthrough with a documentary. Titled "No Perfect Formula," it is currently available on YouTube.

The 1.5-hour documentary follows Cadillac's return to Le Mans in 2023, when the latest Cadillac V Series.R prototypes will be able to compete in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), which includes Le Mans This was made possible by the convergence of rules that allowed Cadillac to compete in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) including Le Mans. Cadillac only competed in IMSA under the previous rules.

This documentary gives a little background on the development of Cadillac's current racing program and follows the races leading up to Le Mans in preparation for the big event. There is no Hollywood-esque ending. Even though one Cadillac car finished third, it was Ferrari's day, and the Italian manufacturer won Le Mans overall for the first time since 1965. Still, it was an impressive effort considering Cadillac's underwhelming past performances.

Cadillac first entered Le Mans in 1950, when racer and sometimes sports car builder Briggs Cunningham entered two Cadillac Series 61 Coupe de Ville. Neither car made it to the podium, and Cadillac would not return to Le Mans for decades.

From 2000 to 2002, Cadillac campaigned a series of prototypes, dubbed the Northstar LMP, with middling results. Thus, Cadillac's 2023 Le Mans campaign was arguably its most successful to date.

Cadillac is back again for the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, which starts on June 15. Cadillac will field two V-Series.R prototypes in the hypercar class, with Whelen Cadillac Racing handling the third.
