Mazda to Change Logo
A trademark application for a revised Mazda logo was posted on the website of the Japanese Patent and Trademark Information Office.
First spotted by the Japanese website Chizai Watch, the trademark was filed by Mazda on July 11 and published on July 24.
The revised logo features a pair of wings in the shape of the letter M within a traditional oval, but is flat rather than the three-dimensional appearance of the current logo.
A version of the current logo is shown below. Flat design also makes it easier for designers to place the logo on a greater variety of surfaces.
Other examples include revised logos for Mini in 2017, Volkswagen in 2019, and Ford in 2023.
If Mazda adopts the revised logo, it is not clear when it will first appear on vehicles. However, it is likely that the rollout will be synchronized with a refresh or redesign of the Mazda lineup.
