Fernando Alonso takes delivery of Aston Martin Valkyrie
Fernando Alonso is one of the privileged few to own an Aston Martin Valkyrie.
Double F1 world champion Fernando Alonso, who currently drives for the Aston Martin F1 team, took delivery of the hypercar in Monaco on Wednesday and then enjoyed a drive around the Principality.
Alonso's Valkyrie features a bespoke specification developed in conjunction with Q by Aston Martin's personalization department. The inspiration for the color combination came from his Formula 1 car, and Alonso also chose red, blue, and Aston Martin lime yellow for the underbody accent stripes. The rear also reads “CAUTION HOT.”
For the interior, Alonso chose black Alcantara for the trim, with his logo on each headrest. For another personal touch, Alonso engraved his current racing number, number 14, on the red anodized gas pedal. This was also the number he bore when he became world karting champion on July 14, 1996, at the age of 14.
Like all Valkyries, Alonso's car combines a 6.5-liter V12 engine with a mild hybrid system capable of electric boost. Total output is 1,139 hp and 0-60 mph acceleration is under 2.5 seconds.
Production of the Valkyrie will take place at Aston Martin's headquarters in Gaydon, England, with 150 regular Valkyries, 85 convertible Valkyrie Spyders, and 40 Valkyrie AMR Pros planned for circuit driving only.
The Valkyrie is not Alonso's only limited-edition Aston Martin collection; in June, he also took delivery of the Valiant, a track car he helped develop.
