2025 Jeep reconnaissance electric off-roader spied in the form of production
The production version of the Jeep Recon electric off-loader was spy-tested for the first time in its prototype format.
The reconnaissance aircraft is an electrical replacement for the iconic Jeep wrangler, originally scheduled for 2024, but given that the prototype is only open to the public, the launch is likely to be pushed back to 2025.
The reconnaissance aircraft was first presented as a concept in 2022, along with the concepts of the medium-sized Wagoneer S and sub-compact Avenger electric vehicles. The Wagoneer S was launched earlier this year and the Avenger was launched in 2022, but not in the US
Production Reconnaissance looks the same as the original concept, up to the brightly colored tow hooks. The side windows at the end of the concept were removable, but the glass seems to be fixed in the production model. Rubber is a set of Nexen Rodian ATX tires that are likely to measure 285/70R17 in all four corners.
The Reconnaissance is a medium-sized SUV built around the STLA large modular platform of parent company Stellantis, just like the wagoneer S. What all Jeeps have to say about reconnaissance is that it features a power top with Jeep Selec-terrain traction management, electronic rocker axles, underbody protection, and chunky off also removable doors and a large opening for a semi-open-air experience.
The powertrain is similar to what is probably found in the Wagoneer S.The luxury-oriented electric SUV is offered first with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain rated at 600 hp, as well as a battery estimated to provide a range of more than 100 kilowatt-hours 300 miles. STLA's large platform also supports gas and hybrid powertrain, but the reconnaissance prototypes were all EVs.
Production will be processed at a plant in North America, probably the same plant in Mexico where the Wagoneer S is being built.
Jeep is committed to providing electric options in all its SUV segments. Compact electric crossover follows reconnaissance. Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, confirmed at an investor conference on May 5 that the starting price for the U.S. market would be aboutと25,000. Jeep also plans to launch a full-size electric wagoneer based on the STLA frame platform in the next 10 years.
Jeep also adds plug-in hybrid powertrain to its more lineup, either as a parallel hybrid system or as a series hybrid system. In the latter, the gas engine acts only as a generator. The first series plug-in hybrid powertrain for Jeeps will be launched next year at Wagoneer. Automakers have also suggested that low-cost conventional hybrid powertrain without plugs could be offered.
