Cadillac Celestic The true flagship sedan is finally here, and it will be electric.

Talks about a true flagship sedan from Cadillac have been going on for over a decade. Now it's finally becoming a reality.

On Wednesday, during a presentation on future EV strategy, General Motors revealed details about a new Cadillac model called Celestic and unveiled a concept to preview it. The concept featured a muscular front end and a curved rear end, almost like a teardrop. The interior utilized a screen that took up the entire width of the dashboard, a design already seen on the redesigned 2021 Escalade.

The production version will be an electric car with a large sedan-type body and a four-person interior. Cadillac has previously unveiled such a model in the form of the stunning Escala concept in 2016, but the design has since changed and a new concept should be unveiled in the not-too-distant future.

It is also known that Celestic production will be limited. This is due to the fact that it is planned to be made almost entirely by hand, like in the good old days when luxury brands created spectacular designs based on donor chassis. In this case, the chassis will be GM's third-generation flexible EV architecture known as BEV3.

The BEV3 platform will underpin several models in GM's portfolio of brands, including Cadillac's Lyriq electric crossover, which will be unveiled on April 2. The platform will support front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive configurations, and will be used for performance.

GM's "Ace up its sleeve" is a new type of battery, which GM has named Ultium. This battery uses less rare earth cobalt, has greater packaging flexibility, and lower manufacturing costs than existing designs. GM plans to offer batteries with capacities ranging from 50 to 200 kilowatt-hours, with the largest battery capable of traveling more than 400 miles on a single charge. These are.
