The face of the 2021 Cadillac Escalade in the latest teaser.

The Cadillac Escalade has long been one of General Motors' most popular and profitable models, so Detroit executives have no immediate plans to cancel the nameplate. On the contrary, a new generation of this full-size luxury SUV (the fifth generation, if you're counting) will be arriving in just over a week.

In preparation for its scheduled reveal in Los Angeles on February 4, the same day as the Academy Awards ceremony, Cadillac has released teaser photos and information about the redesigned Escalade. In the latest teaser, it appears that the current generation of vertical headlights have been dropped in favor of a more slit design seen on Cadillac's latest models, such as the XT6 midsize crossover and CT4 and CT5 sedans.

Renowned filmmaker Spike Lee is also featured in the latest teaser. He has been tapped by Cadillac to direct a short film starring the redesigned Escalade, titled "Anthem," which will premiere with the vehicle on February 4 and will help convey the Escalade's status as a cultural icon for over 20 years (the first generation went into (production began).

The redesigned Escalade, which will be available as a 2021 model, is based on an SUV version of GM's body-on-frame platform that debuted on the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Along with the redesigned Escalade, the SUV version of the platform also underpins the recently unveiled 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and the 2021 GMC Yukon.

The platform will bring superior features such as an air suspension with magnetic dampers and independent rear for luxury car-level ride and comfort, and will also support advanced technologies such as Super Cruise and a 38-inch curved OLED screen in the Escalade We know.

Production of the redesigned Escalade will take place at Escalade's home base in Arlington, Texas. Prices are likely to start around $80,000, although we have heard that some variants may exceed $100,000 this time around.
