Lamborghini Huracán Stellato, supercar off-roading.

Lamborghini plans to unveil a new version of its Huracán supercar at the 2022 Art Basel Miami on November 30, and on Monday confirmed that it will be the Huracán Sterrato.

The car is the production version of the Huracán Sterrato concept car, which was unveiled in 2019. The new name, which means "dirt" in Italian, means that this version of the Huracán is best suited for rally-style dirt tracks and other rough surfaces.

A quick glance at the early photos provided at Monday's launch shows that this is no ordinary supercar. The raised suspension, underbody protection, bolt-on fender guards, driving lights, and roof rack all indicate that Lamborghini's latest model is designed to hit the pavement.

The Huracan Stellato has special significance because it is confirmed to be the last Lamborghini model to be powered purely by an internal combustion engine, starting with the successor to the Aventador, scheduled for release in 2023, which will be a V-12 plug-in hybrid, and in future All future Lamborghinis will be electrified in some form. Lamborghini plans to have its full lineup consist entirely of electrically powered vehicles as early as 2024.

The Huracán Sterrato's powertrain will be powered by the same 5.2-liter V10 as the other Huracáns. Its output will rival the 631 hp of the Huracán Tecnica, which debuted earlier this year, and the drive will almost certainly be four wheels. Lamborghini is likely to make some adjustments to the all-wheel drive system and chassis in order to improve the car's ability to handle rough roads.

Don't be surprised to see more supercars with off-road capabilities in the coming years, especially as supercar sales continue to grow in emerging markets where road conditions are not always the best. More buyers are also looking for supercars that can be driven year-round and without fear of significant damage from potholes. That's why Porsche is preparing its 911 Dakar sports car, which it will unveil this week at the 2022 Los Angeles Motor Show.
