2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS and Cayenne GTS Coupe with 453 HP

Porsche unveiled a GTS version of its third-generation Cayenne on Thursday, and this time buyers can choose between a regular SUV and a sleek Cayenne coupe.

Porsche's GTS model is aimed at buyers who want something sportier than the S but aren't ready to jump into something hardcore or expensive like a turbo.

The Cayenne GTS and Cayenne GTS Coupe will arrive at dealers in the fall as 2021 models, with prices starting at $108,650 and $111,850 respectively. This is approximately $20,000 less than the turbo.

Despite the lower price, the Cayenne GTS remains a serious performance machine. Up front is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that drives all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Compared to the turbo's 541 hp and 567 lb-ft, the GTS has 453 hp and 457 pd-ft lower output, but this is the same setup as the turbo.

Even with the lower output, the Cayenne GTS delivers sports car-like performance. In either body style, the 0-60 mph time is 4.2 seconds and the top speed reaches 168 mph.

The suspension is also tuned. As such, owners will find adjustable dampers and a three-chamber air suspension. Only Porsche enthusiasts will be able to choose the GTS from the Cayenne lineup. It features a front mask similar to that of the Turbo, with round exhaust tips on both sides of the rear mask. Cayenne GTS Coupe buyers can opt for a sportier design with two large oval exhaust tips grouped in the center of the rear fascia. The standard wheels are 21-inch wheels known as the RS Spyder design.

The interior features Alcantara on the headliner, seat centers, center console armrests, and doors. The cabin also features black brushed aluminum accents and the GTS logo. The standard seats are eight-way adjustable and feature side bolsters.

Interestingly, there are rumors that Porsche will develop a more hardcore Cayenne coupe along the lines of the 718 Cayman GT4 and 911 GT3. It is possible that it will bear the GT5 badge, which Porsche has trademarked. While such a variant is not certain, it is almost certain that a variant with a 670-horsepower powertrain from the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid will eventually appear.
